West Midlands Rail, the company set up by local authorities to improve passenger services, today (Thursday April 7) welcomed news that three operators have been shortlisted to run the region's trains from 2017 onwards.
West Midlands Rail is a partnership of fourteen Metropolitan District, Shire and Unitary local transport authorities seeking to gain greater local influence over the region's rail services
Supported by the West Midlands Rail Vision, WMR have set our goals and objectives for rail devolution which will deliver significant benefits to the West Midlands.
London Midland currently operates over 1,300 services every weekday and serves 170 stations (directly managing 145) under the existing Franchise Agreement.
The West Midlands Rail Board of Directors provide local democratic oversight for WMR. The Board is made up of Leaders or senior cabinet members appointed by each of our Partner Authorities.
