Compliance

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Disproportionate burden

Current West Midlands Rail Executive website

We've assessed the benefits of fixing issues with the West Midlands Rail Executive website. We will launch a new website by March 2021. We believe that fixing issues on the current website would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the regulations.

Non-compliance

Some text does not use a sufficient weight.
Some images are missing alt-text, or use text which doesn't describe the image well.
Some buttons do not make sense out of context. For example, read more buttons.
Rail maps are provided as images, with no accessible alternative.
Most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software.
Some interface elements do not have sufficient colour contrast. For example, buttons, text and hovering on buttons.
In some places you cannot scale the text without it disappearing. For example, on the contact page text will be cropped by the content box.
Text content is not written in plain English. When we publish new content, we'll make sure it meets accessibility standards.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they're not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix the West Midlands Railway Spirit Guide.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 11 September 2020. It was last reviewed on 11 September 2020.
This website was last tested on 8 September 2020. The test was carried out by the Digital and Data department at West Midlands Combined Authority.
We used this approach to decide on a sample of pages to test:

  • All content pages are built on templates
  • We checked all live pages and created a list of common templates
  • We chose an example for each template which used the most template functionality.
